Indeed, I think my fix in #1707 got this wrong.

In particular this logic is wrong: https://github.com/pydata/xarray/blob/0e21fdfc8df7433c24da08f5bb8c713864339097/xarray/backends/netCDF4_.py#L190-L192

chunksizes should not be deleted if orignal_shape is not found in encoding, but only if orginal_shape exists and is different.

Any interest in putting together a fix here? :)
