I wouldn't mind a new package like that, but then that becomes something like what was discussed in https://github.com/pangeo-data/pangeo/issues/356. That package should probably cover CRS objects and Grid definitions. Then libraries like geoxarray, pyresample, cartopy, and metpy could all use that library. If that library ends up covering resampling/transforming at all I'd say I'll just absorb that logic in to pyresample and provide some new interfaces to things. However, what does geoxarray become if it doesn't have that CRS logic in it. Just an xarray accessor? I guess that makes sense from a "Write programs that do one thing and do it well" philosophy point of view. |
