It looks like two issues here:

  • [x] ~~Something related to resample~~ DataArray.to_series() creates a MultiIndex even for 1D data #1548
  • [x] Something related to isnull/isna #1549

I'll start digging when I have time. Let's mark this as a 0.10 blocker for now, until we figure out what's going on. My guess is that these are pandas bugs (but we'll see).
