>The type of the units attribute is a string that must be recognizable by the udunits package. Exceptions are the units level, layer, and sigma_level.
This shouldn't prevent xarray from doing something useful with non conforming files if it can.","{""total_count"": 1, ""+1"": 1, ""-1"": 0, ""laugh"": 0, ""hooray"": 0, ""confused"": 0, ""heart"": 0, ""rocket"": 0, ""eyes"": 0}",,754413100

The [CF Conventions](http://cfconventions.org/Data/cf-conventions/cf-conventions-1.8/cf-conventions.html#attribute-appendix) requires the units to be a character string. I think in xarray you can set `decode_cf=False` or `decode_times=False` in the various `open_*` methods to turn off this interpretation if you need things to work right now.","{""total_count"": 0, ""+1"": 0, ""-1"": 0, ""laugh"": 0, ""hooray"": 0, ""confused"": 0, ""heart"": 0, ""rocket"": 0, ""eyes"": 0}",,754413100
